Resilience While Job Hunting
RESILIENCE is an important part of life. As humans, we must have the ability to BOUNCE BACK! Whether it's in our personal lives or professional lives, resilience is the key to success. Here are four strategies to stay resilient when you start your job-search journey.
1. Consider job searching your JOB.
It's inevitable. A lot of your time is going to be spent searching for a new job. It takes hours of dedication and planning to apply to jobs. It can be overwhelming and seem endless, but step two can help with that.
2. Create a daily routine.
Plan our your days! Block off times to search for jobs, customize your resumes, update those cover letters, and network. Also, don't forget to schedule time in there to take a BREAK! Your brain needs time to rest and reset so your job applications don't get sloppy.
3. Prepare for disappointment.
Getting rejected is part of the process. You are going to apply for a job you feel you're the perfect fit for, and you are going to get that "we went with someone else" email. THAT'S OKAY!! Pick yourself up and keep trying!
4. Call in favors from your network.
We've spent years building up our professional networks. NOW IS THE TIME TO USE THEM! Contact your friends, old coworkers, whoever you can to see what is out there and who might be hiring. You NEVER know who someone might know, and how they can help YOU!
If you're in a slump in your job-search process don't get discouraged. It might be time to call in a professional who can take a look at your resume and cover letter to see what they might be missing. If you need an extra set of eyes, schedule your free consultation today!
Don't let job hunting take you out! We can help make those next steps in your career.
